Tested Faith

1. Bear what seems unbearable- We will all reach a point in life where a loss or a fear seems like too much to take on our own.

Psalm 68:19
"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens."

2Corinthians 12:9
"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."

Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."



2. Do what seems unreasonable- The world we live in depends on it's own abilities intellectually, financially, and physically. However, God's eternal view goes beyond what the world sees as reasonable.

Corinthians 10:3
"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does "


3. Expect what seems impossible- How many times have I NOT spoken up for Jesus because I thought the person I was with was somehow not reachable or uninterested?

Matthew 19:26
"Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible'."

The media is the tail wagging the dog So, do people really care this much about the football player and his wife or is the media just feeding it to us. Talk shows determine what the topic will be. Editors decide what the headlines are. They don't ask us  whats on our minds. People who believe the media reflects society's interest, and not there own,  are just right out to lunch. Nobody cares about the three elderly nuns who were raped and murdered last week in Burundi or maybe a follow - up on the oil spills that "destroyed the planet"  a few years ago.  We're all just waiting to hear another opinion on the football player and his wife? Don't get me wrong. The story does not completely lack newsworthiness, but how many people does it take to tell such a simple little story when there is all kinds of other things happening that are important.

"Opportunity" by Berton Bradley

After raising three boys I find I'm always telling , not just them , but there friends too,how great it "used to be ". My parents always did the same as they spoke about the "good old days" . Now, I knew my parents "good old days" consisted of the great depression and a world war that saw 50.000.000 people die . Imagine that. Let that sink in awhile. These were the "good old days". Maybe the " good old days" were good ,because, the good Lord gives us "days "at all. And the sweet,sweet people around us are among the greatest gifts of all His creation. My parents pictures of "the good old days" always consisted of lots of people, in a very small room. Anyway,I get caught up in thinking about the past . This is not good for the next generation ,who have there whole lives stretched out before them. Another Poem

When I first started studying the Bible, I found I was always picking out things I thought I was pretty much in line with, or was already applying to my own life and I would see the faults of other people who weren't where I was morally. I thought "Gee, It so easy. Why don't people just live like me". It's not just Chistians. Many folks think they have all the "real" righteous ways figured out and if you should, say, smoke,or drink, or do something politically incorrect, well, you're just bad, stupid or both. It's always so easy to see the shortcomings of others.
